With the official debut of Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi as a direct participant in both goals, Inter Miami raised the curtain on MLS 2024 with a 2-0 home victory over Real Salt Lake. Good start for Tata’s team Martino, in their search for the prominence that they could not have in the last campaign of the North American competition.

Inter Miami took the lead at the close of the first half, thanks to an accurate assist from Messi to Robert Taylor, who took a cross shot into the net. Along the way, a weak response from goalkeeper Zac MacMath, who could have done much more to prevent his fence from falling.

The 2-0 reached 7 minutes from the end of the game, with another great individual action by Messi: offload for Suárez, pass from the Uruguayan to Diego Gómez and accurate definition by the young Paraguayan, to seal the story.

Those from Florida are now preparing for a demanding challenge on the second day of the tournament: they will visit the LA Galaxy next Sunday, February 25. It will be much more reliable proof of their current status than a Real Salt Lake team that looked harmless and had little weight in attack.
