Atlanta and Philadelphia held nothing back in their 2-2 draw at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, for week 8 of the United States – MLS 2024 tournament.

Atlanta United managed to control the game and start winning with a header and another shot from Daniel Rios and Caleb Wiley, both in the second half, first at 9′ and then at 17′. However, they could not maintain the initial advantage and from 2 to 0 it went to 2-2 when Kai Wagner took charge of the ball to convert from a play (27′ of the second stage) and with the shot executed by Mikael Uhre in the 31st minute of the same half.
A highlight of the game was Caleb Wiley’s goal in the 17th minute of the second half. After an individual play on the left, the defender took a mid-range shot that left the rival goalkeeper with no chance. Great goal over the right post!
Atlanta United lost the chance to take the lead in the 86th minute of the second half, hitting the post with a shot that Saba Lobjanidze regretted.
Mikael Uhre’s prominence established him as the best player of the match. The Philadelphia Union forward showed his best level by scoring 1 goal.
He was also key in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Thiago Almada. The Atlanta United midfielder stood out against Philadelphia Union because he kicked the goal 5 times.
With some infractions and constant pauses, the game was played between both teams. There were a large number of reprimands: Julián Carranza, Thiago Almada, José Martínez, Daniel Gazdag, Kai Wagner, Tristan Muyumba, Jack McGlynn and Alejandro Bedoya.
Atlanta coach Gonzalo Pineda had a 4-5-1 formation on the field with Brad Guzan in goal; Brooks Lennon, Noah Cobb, Luis Abram and Caleb Wiley on the defensive line; Tristan Muyumba, Bartosz Slisz, Saba Lobjanidze, Thiago Almada and Tyler Wolff in the middle; and Daniel Rios in attack.
