For their part, those chosen by Frank Klopas took the field with a 4-5-1 formation with Christopher Brady between the three sticks; Arnaud Souquet, Tobias Salquist, Rafael Czichos and Allan Arigoni in defense; Kellyn Perry-Acosta, Fabian Herbers, Maren Haile-Selassie, Xherdan Shaqiri and Chris Mueller at midfield; and Hugo Cuypers up front.

Sergii Boiko was appointed as the main referee for the match at the Red Bull Arena stadium.

On the next day, NY Red Bulls will face Los Angeles FC as a visitor and Chicago Fire will play the home game against Real Salt Lake.
